TIF Meeting Graphic

Thursday morning July 26 at the State Capitol, Senate Office A, 10:00—
The State Bond Commission will hold hearings on a TIF- (Tax Increment Financing) to raise $24,000,000.00 for the Nord Du Lac shopping center from sales taxes generated by a special tax district created by St. Tammany Parish.

Over thirty years this will cost us around $64,000,000.00. It is my opinion that the request should be denied. A TIF for Colonial Nord Du Lac results in a distorted land use decision, merely shifts revenues from other entities, is susceptible to fluctuations caused by economic declines and St. Tammany Parish has no Master Plan—required by most states before a TIF is considered. That kind of money could be better spent in the State and or the Parish.

I have prepared a graphic that covers the chronology of the Nord Du Lac, and explains Tax Increment Financing so that even I can begin to understand it. If you would like me to send you a copy of the graphic contact me at ljblinddog@aol ask for the "Big Ball of Promises" graphic and I will send you a jpg and pdf of if.

I would hope that you join us on Thursday July 26 th to let your feeling be known.

Leonard Joseph, member of Tammany Together.
