Tammany Together's Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, April 20, 2009. The meeting will be held at the North Shore Unitarian Universalist church located at 28662 Krentel Road, just north of the intersection of I-12 and Highway 434 (I-12 exit 74) in Lacombe. Doors will open at 6:00 PM, and the meeting will begin at 6:30 PM. A map showing the location of the meeting is available at http://www.tammanytogether.org/files/NSUUC.jpg.
Elections to the Board of Directors will be conducted at this meeting. The Nominating Committee has proposed, and the Board has approved, the following slate of candidates (no write-in nominations were received):
Also at this meeting, the following proposed amendment to the Tammany Together Bylaws will be voted on:
Article VI, Section 3, Ad Hoc Committees
Present wording: "The Board of Directors may create and appoint members to such other committees, as they shall deem appropriate. Such a committee shall be appointed to study any issue and report its written findings and recommendations to the Board of Directors before the board may take a public stand on the issue. The Board of Directors may vote to accept, reject, or amend the committee’s recommendations, or choose to present the recommendations to the General Membership for discussion and a vote."
Proposed wording (changes underlined): "The Board of Directors may create and appoint members to such other committees, as they shall deem appropriate. Such a committee may be appointed to study an issue and report its findings and recommendations to the Board of Directors before the board takes a public stand on the issue. When such a committee is appointed, the Board of Directors may vote to accept, reject, or amend the committee’s recommendations, or choose to present the recommendations to the General Membership for discussion and a vote."
Explanation: The proposed changes would make the ad hoc committee process optional and allow the Board of Directors to take a position on an issue without first appointing an ad hoc committee and receiving its findings in written form. This would be desirable when the timing of an issue required a rapid response, when other studies of the issue already existed, or when the particulars of an issue were self-evident.
If you have not already done so, please renew your membership prior to this meeting, or bring your renewal dues to the meeting, so we can conduct an accurate count of the membership prior to any votes being taken.
Thank you for your continued support of Tammany Together. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
Your Tammany Together Board of Directors
