The Covington City Council will meet at 6:00PM on August 7th, at the
School Board Chambers on 17th st next/near the Jr. High School.

Let the Covington City Council know that we would like them to vote
on a resolution opposing the Nord Du Lac shopping center. That we
would also like them to oppose the State portion of any new taxes for
the shopping center, and that we would like them to support an appeal
on the Tif from last week.

Also, contact your legislators and let them know that you are opposed
to the center, and any new taxes for the $5.2 Billion company,
Colonial Pinnacle. After interest the $24 million could cost us $64
million. The Parish has no master plan and should not be doing
projects like this without one.

Also on that agenda, one of the new Council members, Marty Benoit
(sp) wants to appoint a person from Folsom to the Planning and Zoning
commission of Covington. I am opposed to that also.

You can hear Mayor Watkins on WWL, 870 AM radio tomorrow morning at
7:00 talking about these issues.
