LEAGUE ANNOUNCES REVISED SCHEDULE FOR FALL CANDIDATE FORUMS

The League of Women Voters of St. Tammany, a nonpartisan political organization, has announced a revised schedule for their candidate forums this fall. “We knew we’d have to revise our previous schedule based on qualifying,” said Sandra Slifer, President of the League of Women Voters of St. Tammany. “We’ll be monitoring the Secretary of State’s web site watching for any candidate withdrawal updates, also. The League congratulates all the candidates elected or reelected without opposition.”

All candidate forums will take place at the Parish Administrative Complex in the Parish Council Chambers at 21490 Koop Drive in Mandeville. The parish government public access channel, Access St. Tammany, is taping all of the candidate forums and will be showing them numerous times between the taping and the election on October 20. There is a link on the League’s web site (www.lwvst.info) that will take you directly to the Access St. Tammany television schedule.

In addition to the forums, the candidates have received written questions and been asked to respond in writing. “We’ve put the questions on our web site and we’ll add the candidates’ responses as we receive and review them. Check out their answers and attend the forums. Louisiana citizens need to make smart and informed decisions this election cycle. We’ve got a lot of challenges facing us and we need the best people working for us,” said Slifer. The media will receive a copy of the candidates’ answers. Audience members may also submit written questions to the candidates.
