General Membership Meeting October 15, 2007

The Trust for Public Land will present its Greenprint for St. Tammany Parish

Tammany Together’s quarterly General Membership meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 15, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the North Shore Unitarian Universalist church located at 28662 Krentel Road, just north of the intersection of I-12 and Highway 434 in Lacombe. All individual members, supporters, and delegates of homeowner, civic, and non-profit organizations are asked to attend the meeting. No proxy voting is allowed.

Prospective members are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about Tammany Together although only individual members and delegates of groups may cast votes. Membership applications may be downloaded from the group’s web site at http://www.tammanytogether.org/membership. Applications will also be available at the meeting and individuals and groups may join Tammany Together before the meeting begins. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.

Larry Schmidt, New Orleans Office Director for the Trust for Public Land (TPL), will make a presentation explaining the Greenprint TPL developed for St. Tammany Parish with input from a parish-appointed citizens committee. The Parish plans to use the Geenprint during the "comprehensive rezoning" process. Since Tammany Together and its members will certainly be actively involved in reviewing the Parish’s rezoning proposals this presentation will be quite informative.

Tammany Together has continued to grow since its incorporation on April 4, 2007. Several committees have been formed to investigate issues so that Tammany Together can take official positions on these issues. Progress reports from several committees will be presented at the October General Membership meeting. Tammany Together is a member-driven grass-roots organization, so member participation is essential. Members will be encouraged to join committees to further their progress.
