Tammany Together’s first General Membership meeting will be held Monday, July 16 (*) at 6:30 p.m. at the North Shore Unitarian Universalists church located at 28662 Krentel Road, near the intersection of I-12 and Highway 434 in Lacombe. All individual members, supporters, and delegates of homeowner, civic, and non-profit organizations are asked to attend the meeting. No proxy voting is allowed. Prospective members are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about Tammany Together although only individual members and delegates of groups may cast votes. Membership applications may be downloaded from the group’s web site at www.TammanyTogether.org/membership. Applications will also be available at the meeting and individuals and groups may join Tammany Together before the meeting begins. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.
Tammany Together held a Press Conference in early May announcing its formation and organized two community informational meetings, one at Koop Drive in Mandeville and the second at the Calvary Baptist Church in Slidell. Board members have been working to increase awareness of the new organization, engage citizens and elected officials in dialog, and provide a forum for discussion of different topics on the group’s web site.
During the July General Membership meeting, members will be asked to sign up to serve on a variety of committees, such as Nominating, Audit, Membership, and Credentials. Ad Hoc Committees may also be appointed to study issues and prepare reports. The intent of Tammany Together is for it to be a member-driven grass-roots organization.
