Arrow Wood Estates

This brochure was used by Arrow Wood Estates in a meeting September 26, 2007 with Parish President Kevin Davis, Shannon Davis, Public Works, a representative from the Engineering Department, and Utilities, Inc. The brochure was compiled using Google Earth and was helpful in illustrating our position in regards to our concern about Utilities, Inc. and Louisiana Water’s plans to move the entrance to their sewage facility, located north of our subdivision, onto our streets.

We were informed by Utilities, Inc. that our concerns were unwarranted and that they were only seeking a "temporary" entrance and not a permanent one. That may be so, but we didn’t want to open that door.

The brochure helped us to express our concerns and evoked solutions that may not have been possible if we just met with parish officials and Utilities, Inc. and expressed our concerns orally. It helped to facilitate direct discussions.

The tentative solution that was verbally agreed upon:

  1. Engineering Department will do a study of the problem
  2. Recommendations include replacing the dam and keeping the sewage plant access road
  3. Other recommendation is to move the dam completely to the other side of the north end of the lake and repair the road to the plant
  4. The temporary entrance that was proposed by Utilities, Inc. is not necessary and it’s too costly to implement
  5. Utilities, Inc. agreed to meet with the Arrow Wood Estates board more often and to come to homeowner association meetings

Much of our concern came from the lack of information and cooperation.
